Is Hubie Halloween a once promised trick by iconic funny guy Adam Sandler? Or is the upcoming festive flick going to be a real Halloween treat for movie watchers when it premieres? The answer to this question remains up in the air for now and will likely haunt us all until the Sandler’s Netflix comedy airs on October 9.

According to a report by Yahoo! Finance, audiences and critics shouldn’t put either outcome past the veteran comedian. After all, the Uncut Gems star has proven time and time again that when it comes to his film projects, viewers should always be ready for him to have a few tricks up his sleeve.

As the publication notes, you might remember that the Saturday Night Live alum made his bad movie “threat” back in December. While discussing his role in Uncut Gems with Howard Stern, Sandler claimed that if he didn’t win an Oscar for his performance, there’d be consequences for moviegoers.

The actor stated, “If I don’t get it, I’m going to f**king come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay. That’s how I get them.” Yikes. Was he kidding or serious?

Jokes aside, Sandler sadly didn’t win an Academy Award for his awesome acting in the Safdie Brothers hit. However, Uncut Gems did receive several other impressive nominations, and the seasoned actor even won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for his performance.

So does that make up for not even getting nominated for an Oscar? Or are Adam Sandler’s motives with Hubie Halloween way more sinister than we initially thought? Check out the trailer below.

The iconic prankster may never tell us his motives with the film directly, but Hubie Halloween likely has all the answers we need to figure it out. All we have to do is watch it and decide for ourselves when it premieres.

It’s a win-win for Adam Sandler. Good movie or bad movie, the jokes on us either way, because obviously, we’ll be watching. A+, Billy Madison. You earned it!
