You season 2 premiered on Netflix in December 2019, about one year following the release of You season 1 on Netflix.

Many fans were excited to watch You season 3 on Netflix in December 2020, but it’s clear that the new season won’t be ready for a late 2020 premiere.

Netflix always had plans for a 2021 release date for season 3, though, and that had nothing to do with the pandemic. It likely just made more sense to push season 3 back to 2021 rather than rush it for another late-year release.

We’re hoping to see You season 3 in early 2021, but that might not be realistic, given the current situation with the pandemic.

It’s unclear whether or not You has started production again. It doesn’t seem like it has, and we don’t know if there are plans in the immediate future to start filming again.

The cast and crew of Lucifer is getting back to filming in Los Angeles in September 2020, so it’s possible that You could follow shortly after that.

If You season 3 doesn’t start filming until later this year or early next year, we’d assume that a late 2021 release date is still possible for the third season. But, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the new season.
