Outer Banks season 2 has started filming

Outer Banks season 2 has started filming in South Carolina! The cast confirmed the start of production on social media.

Outer Banks premiered on Netflix in April, and it was a major hit for the streaming service. It’s one of the best Netflix shows of 2020 so far.

We didn’t hear that Netflix renewed Outer Banks for season 2 until July 2020. Obviously, things were moving behind the scenes to get things set up for an Aug. 31 production start date.

Most of the cast from season 1 is back for season 2. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Charles Esten, Drew Starkey, Austin North, and Deion Smith will all return for season 2.

We learned a few weeks ago that the cast and crew were aiming to start production in the coming weeks, and so it’s great to know that production is actually underway.

Many other original shows and movies have yet to resume production or start filming because of the pandemic.

Stokes confirmed the start of filming on Instagram, and Daviss confirmed the filming start date on Twitter.

We’re hoping that production goes smoothly during this rough time and everyone associated with production is able to remain safe and healthy. If that happens and there are no significant delays, there’s a good chance we’ll get to see Outer Banks season 2 on Netflix next year.

We don’t know how long production is supposed to last, but I’m really hopeful that they can get the season filmed and ready to go by the summer or fall of 2021. Usually, we have to wait about a year from the start of production on shows like Outer Banks until the new season is released on Netflix.

If that’s the case for Outer Banks season 2, we could see the new season on Netflix by the end of summer 2021. For now, expect the Outer Banks season 2 release date to be in August or September 2021.
