Stranger Things season 5 is all but officially renewed!

The Duffer brothers just shared in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Stranger Things season 4 is not going to be the last season of the series. Of course, that likely means Stranger Things season 5 is going to happen at Netflix.

The fourth season is ramping up to restart production soon. Hopefully, the cast and crew will be able to get back at it in September like the planned, but we haven’t heard if that’s actually going to happen.

A few years ago, the Duffer brothers mentioned in an interview that Stranger Things would likely only run for four or five seasons. As we get closer to the fourth and fifth season, many fans are reasonably concerned that the hit Netflix show is nearing the end of its run.

Will Stranger Things season 5 be the last season of the series?

It’s possible. It all comes down to how you look at it. We know the season is probably going to end within the next few years, but it’s just a matter of if there are two or three seasons left if the rumors are to be believed.

Netflix or anyone with production has not confirmed or denied any of those rumors, so we don’t know if they are true.

Earlier this year, there was a rumor that the fifth season would be the final season of the series, but that season would be split into two parts.

Netflix often does split the final season of its big shows into two parts. We’ve seen it with a few shows so far, and even more shows will see it happening in the future, including Ozark, Grace and Frankie and more.

If Netflix does split the fifth season of Stranger Things, I think it could be the final season of the series. That would likely give us at least 20 more episodes of the show, and I’m guessing that could be enough time for the show to end its run the right way.

If Netflix doesn’t split the fifth season, I think there’s a really good chance the series will be returning for season 6. That’s simply my feeling at this time. I don’t have any inside information.

If season 5 was going to be the final season, the Duffer brothers had every chance to comment on the future of the series, as they’ve done in the past. They didn’t in this case, and that makes me think that there might some more details that need to be ironed out OR there are more seasons in the works than the four-season or five-season arc they planned at the beginning of the series.

I think there are three more Stranger Things release dates to look forward to. We’ll see Stranger Things season 4 next year or in early 2022. Then, I think we’ll get the release of season 5 and the second half of season 5 later, or Netflix will make the final batches of episodes season 5 and season 6. Any way you slice it, we’re getting three more batches of Stranger Things episodes. That’s what I think anyway.

Again, that’s just my opinion. I’m sure Netflix and the Stranger Things creative team knows what is going to happen, but they won’t let us know for a while.
