Best Netflix movies of 2020: 16. Lost Girls

Lost Girls is based on the book of the same name Lost Girls: An American Mystery by Robert Kolker. Liz Garbus, best known for her work as a documentary director, directed Lost Girls, which premiered on Netflix in March.

The film stars Amy Ryan, who Netflix fans will recognize as Holly Flax from The Office, as Mari Gilbert, a woman who is trying to find her daughter by any means necessary. The investigation into her daughter’s disappearance leads to a gruesome discovery about sex workers in Long Island and a serial killer.

Thomasin McKenzie, Lola Kirke, Oona Laurence, Dean Winters, Miriam Shor, Reed Birney, Kevin Corrigan, and Gabriel Byrne stars in the Netflix movie.

I was unaware of this story until I saw the movie, and it’s heartbreaking that so many women were murdered with such lazy investigations into their disappearances.

Best Netflix movies of 2020: 15. Horse Girl

Horse Girl is one of the best Netflix movies of the year that many subscribers haven’t seen. If you’re a fan of Alison Brie in BoJack Horseman or Netflix’s GLOW, you have to see this movie.

Brie stars in the film, which was directed by Jeff Baena. Brie and Baena wrote the screenplay for Horse Girl together.

In the psychological drama, Sarah (Brie), a young woman dealing with the death of her mother and mental health issues, slowly loses her grip on reality.

Debby Ryan, John Reynolds, Molly Shannon, John Ortiz, and Paul Reiser also star in the movie.
