Netflix adds 56 new movies and shows this week

It’s the last week of July! How did that happen? But just because it’s the end of the month doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton of new movies and shows coming to Netflix. The end of the week is also the start of August and a bunch of new stuff always comes to the streaming service at the start of each month.

Whether you’re looking for a new season of a Netflix Original, want to binge-watch a famous franchise, or catch up on a Showtime series, Netflix has something for everyone this week.

On Friday, July 31, season 2 of The Umbrella Academy hits Netflix. Fans of the show have been waiting over a year for a new season and it’s finally here. The show starring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min follows the Hargreeve children as they try to protect the world with their various superpowers.

More in the mood to binge-watch a fan-favorite movie franchise? You’re in luck because all three of the Jurassic Park films (not including the Jurassic World movies) will be on Netflix on Saturday, Aug. 1. The first film, starring Sam Neill and Laura Dern, follows a group of scientists and kids as they discover the horrors of a theme park filled with cloned dinosaurs. The second and third films expand on the original movie and show how much of a bad idea bringing back dinosaurs really is.

Or are you trying to catch up on your favorite Showtime series, Shameless? Season 10 is coming to Netflix on Sunday, July 26. While you’re waiting for the final season to come out, now is the perfect time to either re-watch season 10 or watch what you missed.

The series starring William H. Macy, Ethan Cutkosky, Jeremy Allen White, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, and Emma Kenney follows possibly one of the most dysfunctional families on television. The Gallaghers consist of their drunk and selfish father and six kids who rely more on their sister, Fiona, than they do their dad.

Although, in season 10, since Emmy Rossum left the show, Fiona is no longer there and Debbie takes charge of the house, but with this family, any kind of order she tried to set up, doesn’t last for long.

This week you can also check out season 5 of Last Chance U on Monday, July 28. The series shows the lives of junior college football players and coaches. The fantasy adventure movie, The NeverEnding Story (and its sequel) is also coming to the streaming service on Saturday, Aug 1.

The one and only A Knight’s Tale also makes it to Netflix on Saturday, Aug.1 as well. The film starring Heath Ledger, Paul Bettany, Alan Tudyk, Mark Addy, Rufus Sewell, Laura Fraser, and Shannyn Sossamon is one of the best period films ever made and that’s mainly due to the acting and the epic soundtrack.
