Best feel-good shows: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

There’s just something about Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The show is light, romantic, insightful, and heartbreaking at times, but whatever the show makes you feel, it will always give you the change to let it out – through song.

For those of you not familiar with the premise, Zoey, our main character, can hear everyone’s innermost thoughts. Except she isn’t reading minds, and people aren’t talking to her, no. They’re singing! And not singing old, stuffy, musical tunes either (I love musical tunes, don’t get me wrong), but the type of songs you’ll recognize from the contemporary charts, as well as some classics.

If you love music, a good OTP, female friendships, and outstanding family dynamics, well, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is just the show for you.

Best feel-good shows: Modern Family

There’s something about Modern Family. Yes, sometimes, especially in earlier seasons, the jokes rely too much on stereotypes, and yes, they often go for the low hanging fruit. And yet, as the show advances, you start to appreciate not just the jokes they end up being able to tell, but even the ones they don’t.

You fall in love with these people, with this idea that the show encapsulates, about family being just …the people that you are related to, yes, but also the people that stick with you. Family isn’t what we used to think it was, it’s not just mom, dad, 2.5 kids, and a picket fence.

No, family is the people you choose and the people that choose you back. Even if it’s hard and even if you don’t always see eye to eye or understand each other. None of that matters. Only family does.

What do you think? Are there any other feel-good shows you’d recommend for all our quarantine needs?
