Best feel-good shows: Sweet Magnolias

If you want a light, romantic, female-focused show that will give you some ups and downs, and yet won’t ever hurt you bad enough that you want to throw something at the screen, look no further than Sweet Magnolias.

The Netflix original production – which has yet to be renewed for the season 2 we all desperately need – follows the lives and families of three friends, and does a great job of capturing the ups and downs of life, friendship, love and living in a small town where everyone knows everyone else.

And most importantly, it does so without ever forgetting that our allegiance is, and will always be, to these women. Yes, we might be here for the drama, and the kids (Ty and Annie 4ever), but we’re really, really here for Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue, our sweet magnolias.

Best feel-good shows: The Good Place

If you ask me, the best part about starting The Good Place journey right now is that you don’t have to wait to see what happens! The show wrapped up its fourth and final season earlier this year, and you can experience the ups and downs of these four humans who die and discover, even in the afterlife, there’s a lot to be learned.

It sounds like a downer, but The Good Place is the type of show that makes you laugh out loud, and yet somehow sneakily teaches you a lesson at the same time. It’s also the type of show that’ll throw twist after twist your way until you’re absolutely convinced there’s no way you can even attempt to guess what’s coming next.

And yet, it all makes sense. It all fits. Plus, the message of, no matter where we are, no matter who we are, we can always do better, well, that’s the type of message we could all use right now.
