The first 13 episodes of Supernatural season 15 are streaming now on Netflix

Supernatural season 15 might not conclude until late 2020, but fans looking to catch up on the first half of the show’s final season are in luck.

Although we initially anticipated the final season of Supernatural being added to Netflix in late 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic — which caused The CW to put the show on an indefinite hiatus after its March 23 episode — Netflix surprised fans in dropping the first 13 episodes of season 15 on June 5.

That’s right, fans missing the Winchester brothers and Castiel are in luck as the first part of Supernatural‘s farewell season is available to stream Netflix!

While Netflix typically is not able to upload the most recent seasons of The CW’s various series until eight days after the show has completed its full season, a special exception seems to have been made for Supernatural season 15. As a result, fans can enjoy the first 13 episodes of Supernatural‘s final season while they wait for the remaining episodes to air later this year.

Supernatural season 15 return date set for Fall 2020

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, production on Supernatural season 15 was forced to shut down unexpectedly in March 2020 resulting in the show’s inability to complete the final two episodes of its final season. As it was later revealed, while filming on five of the show’s seven episodes had been completed prior to the shut down the episodes had not been put through post-production editing.

Rather than completing the process, burning through the episodes and having to air the final two hours of the series later in the year as standalone hours, The CW ultimately decided to break the show’s final season into two halves.

Looking ahead at a fall schedule which will not feature any of its returning fall series — with the likes of All American, Riverdale and its Arrowverse series pushed to 2021 — The CW brass decided to hold Supernatural‘s final seven episodes for the fall season.

The move will make the series the network’s only traditional fall series airing as part of a schedule which will feature off-network acquisitions such as Swamp Thing, Tell Me a Story and Devils as well as series originally intended to be part of the network’s summer line-up including Pandora and The Outpost.

With the final seven episodes of Supernatural season 15 airing as part of The CW’s fall schedule, fans will likely have to wait until November or December for the complete season to stream on Netflix. Fortunately, we can relive the first half of the season whenever we’d like in the meantime making it easy to have a full-series re-watch before the final seven episodes arrive later this year!
