A selection of five good Netflix movies to watch between May 23 and 24

As it’s a holiday weekend, you’d usually likely spend it on the beach somewhere or visit friends. Sadly, Memorial Day weekend 2020 is going to be spent inside watching Netflix movies while we adhere to lockdown restrictions in local areas. That means you need these five good movie selections.

There is something for all this weekend. Whether you want to honor the fallen with a good movie or you need a laugh, Netflix certainly has something for you. Here are my top picks.

Public Enemies

Johnny Depp and Christian Bale star in a movie focused on the gangsters John Gillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. The three have terrorized the city for long enough. Now the feds want to bring them in, but they’re not going down without a fight. The movie does an excellent job transforming the works of Bryan Burrough.

The King’s Speech

The King’s Speech has been on Netflix for a while, but it’s leaving the streaming service in June 2020. In fact, it’s leaving on June 1, so you want to watch it this weekend or you’ll miss out. Colin Firth stars as King George VI, who hires a speech therapist with some unconventional practices to help get over a stutter. This historical fiction movie tells the tale of the leadup to King George VI’s first speech as king.

The Delivery Boy

Next on our list is one of the newest foreign movies on the service. Not an original but still a worthy watch, The Delivery Boy is now streaming. The story focuses on a teenage suicide bomber and a young prostitute. Neither know each other, but they’re the only allies they have on a night full of terrible secrets being revealed. They soon learn what made them who they are.

It’s a dark thriller that is perfect for those who like mind-bending twists. You can watch it right now on Netflix.

The Lovebirds

Need a comedy? You’re not alone. That’s where this one of the Netflix movies comes into play. The Lovebirds stars Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani as a couple on the brink of breaking up. However, they find themselves mixed up in a bizarre murder mystery. Now it’s not just about saving their relationships but their lives.

The two find themselves as the suspects in the murder. While they’re clearing their names, they need to help solve the case. Could it bring them back together?

United 93

Memorial Day is about remembering the fallen heroes. While United 93 didn’t involve fallen military personnel, it did involve passengers who gave their lives to save the lives of countless others. The passengers on board the plane stormed the cockpit to prevent the 9/11 terrorist from hitting his intended target, although everyone on board lost their lives in the fight.

This is certainly going to be a movie that brings back memories for many. It’s also a movie that will live on to highlight the sacrifice people will make to save others and do the right thing.
