3. Finding Nemo

There are many movies about finding love or friendship in the Pixar brand. Finding Nemo went a little differently. It brought us a tale of family.

When Nemo is taken, his dad will do everything he can to get his son back. It doesn’t help that Nemo was all that was left when his wife and other eggs were killed, so Marlin is extremely protective of his boy. He’s the epitome of a helicopter parent, but you can understand why.

Throughout the journey, Marlin learns more about life and the world than he ever expected. He meets colorful characters along the way, including Dory. Who doesn’t love the way she pronounces “escape” or speaking whale? And who doesn’t love that she is so focused on helping even if she sometimes forgets what she was supposed to be doing in the first place?

Finding Nemo becomes more than a movie about a father finding his son. It’s a movie about breaking down prejudice. After all, Marlin has a specific thought about things he doesn’t know and he learns to stop being scared; he learns to accept.

While all that happens, Nemo learns more about life in a fish tank. He focuses on getting out so he can get back to his dad, and meets some excellent friends along the way.

Finding Nemo brought us the sequel Finding Dory, which is a great addition. You’ll want to check it out once you’ve watched all five Pixar movies on this list.
