4. Alexei

Talk about a character that captured the hearts of Stranger Things fans all around. Alexei was that guy.

Alexei played a great, funny, loveable role in season 3 of Stranger Things. Besides the main characters that we’ve seen the past couple of seasons, Alexei is by far the most loveable character.

We are immediately introduced to Alexei in episode 1 of season 3 when we see the Russians are trying to open the gate to the Upside Down.

Although at that moment we didn’t know just how big Alexei’s role would be, we knew that the Russian’s would play a big role in season 3.

The next time we see Alexei is when he is kidnapped by Hopper and Joyce and taken to Murray so he can translate exactly what Alexei is saying. Once Alexei realizes that he can’t return to the Russians without being killed, he decides to help Hopper, Joyce, and Murray close the gate.

While at the carnival, Alexei is met by Grigori, the Russian assassin, who ultimately shoots and kills him.

Alexei is a character that captured the hearts of fans in just a few episodes and should still be here to make us laugh and smile in season 4, but unfortunately, he won’t be.

3. Barbara Holland

The death of Barbra Holland is a death that the Duffer brothers still get heckled about to this day. In fact, it may be the death that they will never stop hearing about.

We were first introduced to Barb in season 1 of the series as Nancy Wheeler’s best friend. She was for sure the protective friend that always thought logically and didn’t trust the new romance between her friend Nancy and Steve Harrington. She believed Steve was only after one thing.

Despite not wanting to go, Barb joined Nancy at a party at Steve’s house where things didn’t go very well. Instantly, you could tell Barb was uncomfortable and didn’t want to be there.

When Barb was ready to leave, she asked Nancy to come with her, and Nancy insisted Barb leave without her.

Barb was hurt and upset by Nancy’s choice to go upstairs to Steve’s room, so she decided to sit on the diving board just above the water of Steve’s pool. Earlier in the night, she had cut her hand on a beer can that caused her hand to bleed.

While sitting on the diving board, the blood from her hand hit the water where she was then attacked and taken to the Upside Down. Later in the season, Eleven confirmed that Barb was dead, and there was no bringing her back to life.

Barbara Holland’s death remains the one death that Stranger Things fans around the world can’t get over.
