2. Men In Black

This is a delightful movie that I have seen so many times I have lost count. It stars Will Smith as is a New York City police detective named James who ran down an alien. Only he didn’t know that it was an alien at the time. When trying to explain what happened to his chief, they think he is crazy, and that is when Tommy Lee Jones shows up.

Agent K (Jones) is there to secretly recruit James as an agent. After proving to James that Kay really is an agent for a secret government agency that provides immigration services for extraterrestrials, he convinces James to join the agency and become Agent J. In the process, they learn that there is a bug in town. The bug is a monster-sized cockroach who stole a farmer’s skin and is running around New York in an “Edgar suit” looking for the “The Galaxy.”

The special effects in this movie are out of this world, considering the film premiered in 1997, and then you have the dynamics of J’s wise-cracking personality working opposite of Agent K. They play very well off each other.

The first two Men In Black movies are available to stream on Netflix right now.

1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Just as the name implies, a high-school student Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) decides to cut classes and take the day off by faking an illness. He talks his best friend, Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), and his girlfriend, Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara), into skipping school with him. The only problem is that he has already cut classes before, and if he is caught this time, he will have to repeat the year.

However, in order to bust Sloane out of school, Ferris comes up with this elaborate plan of pretending to be her father and uses the excuse that a relative has died. He also borrows a classic Ferrari that belongs to Cameron’s father in order to pick up Sloane.

Principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) doesn’t believe Ferris is sick and thinks it is a major coincidence that his girlfriend is also leaving school.

Not only doesn’t Rooney believe Ferris is really sick, and neither does Ferris’s sister Jeanie Bueller (Jennifer Grey). Jeanie hates the fact that Ferris is everybody’s favorite and gets away with everything. They each set out on their own mission to catch Ferris.

Meanwhile, Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane are trying to cram a lifetime of adventure into the last day the three would have as friends before going away to different colleges.

What follows is a hilarious cat and mouse chase with Jeanie and Rooney trying to catch Ferris playing hooky. Ferris and his friends having fun in downtown Chicago while avoiding Ferris’s father who is also downtown.  Will they get caught? You will have to watch the movie and find out.

That’s it for my list for Groundhog Day. What movie will you be watching? Let us know in the comments below.
