20. Never Have I Ever

Premiere date: TBA

Mindy Kaling has contributed brilliant comedy to network television, Hulu, and now she’ll be blessing Netflix with her talents! Kaling has been a busy bee but continues to dish out fun shows and movies, her most recent being the film Late Night. Her upcoming Netflix comedy, Never Have I Ever, may not yet have a premiere date, but we are anticipating the comedy to drop early to mid-2020.

The series received a ten-episode order from Netflix and will be a coming-of-age story co-created by Lang Fisher. Never Have I Ever follows an Indian-American teenager (to be portrayed by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) who is first-generation American. The teen’s life is complicated, to say the least, but not only because she’s a first-generation American, but because everyone’s teenage years are full of struggles and finding yourself.

Kaling has teased awkward teen moments audiences will be able to relate to. Fans of Kaling know that the actress and creator is one of the most down to Earth people in the business. In everything Kaling does, she keeps it real and isn’t afraid to voice her opinion on tough-hitting topics. There’s proof in work Kaling has done before, such as The Mindy Project and Late Night.

Never Have I Ever will be closer to home than any other series or film for Kaling. In an interview, she shared with Variety that Netflix approached her about doing a comedy on Kaling’s life growing up. Kaling, however, suggested to do a more modern take, instead.
