13 Reasons Why

When 13 Reasons Why debuted, people had mixed opinions. Those who had read the books knew exactly what they should expect. Well, for the most part. They knew that it was about a teenage girl who killed herself and left tapes to explain why she did it.

However, the show was met with controversy due to it idolizing suicide. It was only this year that Netflix agreed to even remove the actual suicide scene from the first season.

The show has only grown since then. Continuing past the source material, the show focused on how the various characters would deal with the aftermath of the tapes. Naturally, the tapes got out and the town learned of the things that each person on the tapes did (or didn’t do).

However, the storylines of each of the characters have grown. We’ve watched them deal with their own destructive home lives, find respect amongst them, and dealt with murder mysteries as the main villain was killed (and we have absolutely no shame in saying we didn’t care about him).

When 13 Reasons Why was renewed for a fourth season, Netflix also stated it would be the last. It’s quite fitting considering high school is four years in length and this show is going on for four years.
