Always look in the garage (and under it)

In line with life lesson number one, always be aware of your surroundings. And check every square inch of them for hidden doors, secret panels, or pieces of alien technology (or just aliens) that may be too close for comfort.

Jerry wasn’t happy to find that Rick had crafted an entire giant lab under his house, before he and Beth argued so much over what they saw inside that the captive alien burst out and flipped off everyone as he left. We’ve seen several Rick and Morty episodes where various characters have rummaged around in the boxes Rick has in the garage, and come up with all kinds of weird pieces, parts and devices.

Especially if anyone related to you is a genius, who knows what’s in your house? Rick has, at various times through the series, produced or built all kinds of things. He’s configured the TV for interdimensional cable, made a robot whose sole purpose was to pass the butter, and introduced his family to the Meeseeks Box. There was even that time he shamelessly plugged for Nintendo by running around with an armful of the Nintendo Switch.

And being hyper-observant can also help you get ahead. Remember the beginning of “Pickle Rick” when Beth’s sharp eye caught that Rick had set up the vial of anti-pickle serum directly overhead? If she hadn’t been paying attention, his day would have gone a lot easier. Instead, that serum went in Beth’s purse and Rick went for a ride through the sewer system.
