30. What/If

We know what you are likely thinking! First, we couldn’t stress enough how this list only includes critically acclaimed shows and how we’d only be mentioning the best Netflix shows in 2019. So you may be confused by my inclusion of What/If, a series even Netflix Life called “TV trash gold” and reviewed it as “the best worst show on Netflix.” But hear us out!

As we mentioned in our review for What/If, the 10-episode Netflix original series is over the top dramatic and insane, sure, but that’s what makes it so great! It can easily be classified as a soap as it features some bizarre twists and difficult to imagine situations. But when we think back to the shows that instantly hooked us and kept viewers on the edge of their seats, What/If easily comes to mind. If you’re searching for your next favorite addictive series, this one is it.

What/If premiered this summer on May 24, and #WhatIf was trending all weekend long as audiences tried to wrap their heads around the shocking and drama-packed events. Miss out no longer and watch this series ASAP. Did we mention it stars Renee Zellweger? The show doesn’t deserve her, but she truly makes it so much more fun. It would not have been as great to watch without her.

The series stars Anne Montgomery (Zellweger), a businesswoman that’s always a step ahead of her challengers. The way she became so successful and wealthy is by being ruthless and remaining emotionally absent towards everyone. One day, Anne reaches out to married couple Sean (Blake Jenner) and Lisa (Jane Levy) and proposes a deal that could change their lives. But they may want to double-check all terms and conditions.
