Grey’s Anatomy celebrates its 350th episode as Meredith fights to keep her license.

Grey’s Anatomy hit a huge milestone this week with its 350th episode! Can you believe it?! We’re 16 seasons in with 350 episodes of drama, romance, and everything in between. This week’s episode, “My Shot”, is all about Meredith’s hearing and anyone she’s ever known coming to her defense.

It’s a rather emotional episode that reminds us how amazing of a doctor Meredith is, and how much she’s grown since the pilot of the series. But it’s also a reminder that things haven’t been all sunshine and rainbows either, which is precisely why this episode is fitting to celebrate a milestone.

And because there was cause for celebration here for Grey’s Anatomy, the series did longtime fans a solid by finding a way to bring in old characters. While it wasn’t them in person, their names were mentioned at a pivotal point in the episode (one we will get into below, I promise!).

Given all the epic moments this Grey’s Anatomy episode gave us, let’s dive into the top five!

350 episodes!

I think the greatest moment from “My Shot” is that it is the 350th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Through the years, there has been so much that has happened. At the heart of a lot of it has been Meredith Grey. She’s pretty much the heart and soul of the series, and that is why I’m glad they chose to focus on her for this episode.

As a character, she’s been the wringer but has somehow managed to get to the other side relatively unscathed…and happy! So, bravo to the character of Meredith Grey and to Grey’s Anatomy for making it this far. Here’s to 350 more!

Blast from the past

This episode focuses on Meredith’s hearing, and for a while, it didn’t seem to be going in her favor. In fact, I was pretty sure that she was going to lose her license. However, thanks to Alex Karev, we got a blast from the past. And why shouldn’t we? It’s the 350th episode–there has to be some way to bring in past characters.

Alex stands in front of the panel to read a handful of letters that are in support of Meredith and her work ethic. He read one from Cristina Yang, but also had letters from Arizona Robbins, Calliope Torres, Addison Montgomery, and April Kepner. It was a very sweet way to bring in characters we love and adore, and it fit in perfectly given the situation.

Meredith’s past patients pledge their support

Along with the letters, Alex had another way to convince the panel of Meredith’s amazing work. He brought in Meredith’s patients who she treated over the years. Some of them spoke to the panel directly about how Meredith saved their lives.

It’s incredibly heartwarming to see how many people she has helped since she first became a doctor. Not to mention, the young girl she committed insurance fraud for showed up to be there for Meredith as well. How sweet is that?!

Meredith gets her license back!

Yes, that’s right! After all the back and forth in this episode, the panel decides to send a recommendation in support of letting Meredith keep her license. Phew, that was close!

It’s a joyous celebration because the world of Grey’s Anatomy gets to keep its most talented doctor. I mean, we knew she wasn’t going anywhere, but it’s nice to know it’s official.

Bailey and Meredith are back!

Despite her feelings for what Meredith did and how that’s affected her, Bailey finally comes around. This is in large part due to Richard pushing Bailey to realize she’s being too harsh. Whatever it was, it was one of the greatest moments from the episode when Bailey pushed through everyone to say one last thing about Meredith.

Whatever she may have done, Bailey voiced her support for Meredith because she deserves it. And better yet, Bailey asks Meredith to come back to Grey Sloan! Yay!

Grey’s Anatomy airs new episodes every Thursday on ABC at 8:00 PM EST.
