Grey’s Anatomy celebrates Halloween in this week’s episode!

Grey’s Anatomy celebrated the spooky holiday with its own twist on Halloween inclusive of skeletons under Pac-North. It seems like the only one in the Halloween spirit, however, is Jo, who dresses up like a bride corpse. A lot of this week’s episode focuses on DeLuca trying to bond with Meredith’s kids while she’s in jail (yah, prison).

It’s not as easy to step into Derek Shepherd’s shoes, but then again, DeLuca has never intended on doing that. However, by the episode’s end, he manages to figure out a way to preserve their father’s memory while creating a place for himself. Out of all the people Meredith has dated since Derek, DeLuca is definitely my favorite.

We’ve barely started scratching the surface of this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. So, without wasting any more time, let’s dive into this week’s 5 best moments!

Behind bars

It was inevitable; Meredith Grey is sitting in prison. At this point, I was wondering why she hadn’t ended up there after everything she did. Zola got sick in last week’s episode and as a result, Meredith couldn’t go to her hearing. The community service option goes out the door leaving Meredith with only one option–prison.

While her time in prison is brief, the part of the episode that she spends time in prison, Meredith befriends her cellmate. Unfortunately, the cellmate isn’t able to make bail so as soon as Meredith is released, she posts bail for her cellmate.

It’s a beautiful moment for Meredith because even though her future is uncertain, there is plenty she can still do for others!

The JoLex nuptial

I know, I know, Grey’s Anatomy gave Jo and Alex an entire episode to celebrate their wedding. However, as we learned, they never officially filed for their marriage, meaning they’re not actually married. This episode is a rather difficult one for Alex, who is losing his mind over Pac-North and the responsibilities he has there.

But thanks to Jo showing up and helping him all day and the investors willing to go all-in for Pac-North, Alex decides to celebrate–big. What better way to enjoy the day than to officially get married and file for it, right?!

Side note: The moment when Jo jokes and say she’s pregnant is hilarious. But I won’t lie when I say I got super excited for a moment there.

The Pac-North graveyard

While the investors are being shown around Pac-North, Alex learns an unfortunate secret about the hospital. About 100 years back, it used to be a mental hospital. And every time there was an unclaimed deceased body, the hospital would just bury it on the grounds.

Naturally, this doesn’t bode well for the group of investors giving a tour of the hospital. If they were to find out, Alex is concerned they’ll lose any hope of funding, which they desperately need. Eventually, they do come to learn the truth, but decide to invest anyway. Phew!

Call me crazy, but I’m not digging this whole Pac-North storyline. Is it absolutely necessary?

Koracick gets vulnerable

Koracick isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite character on Grey’s Anatomy. He’s pretty much rubbed everyone the wrong way, and the only time we started warming up to him was when he was with Teddy. But something about Halloween has Koracick off his game. Not to mention, his mood is worse than usual, which isn’t good for anyone.

When Bailey confronts him about his mood, she learns that Halloween is a particularly difficult time for Koracick as his son died two weeks before the holiday. Awww, I know, my heart went out to him, finally.

It was a holiday Koracick loved to celebrate with his son hence why he’s in such a grumpy mood throughout the episode. Normally he bothers me, but I really liked how vulnerable he was in this moment. It really showed the audience a different side of him, and I think this calls for more emotional Koracick moments. Right, guys?!

Zola and DeLuca’s give us the feels

Ever since Derek died, it’s been difficult to see Meredith shacked up with anyone else. But I have to say, I’m digging Meredith and DeLuca as a couple. The same, however, cannot be said of Meredith’s kids, especially Zola. Meredith spends most of this episode in prison, so it leaves her sisters and DeLuca in charge of the kiddos.

But when DeLuca tries to help Zola put on her wings for her Halloween costume, she flinches and reminds him that he’s not her dad. It turns out that she doesn’t want anyone touching her wings because the last time she wore them, Derek had to fix them. It freaked her out when DeLuca tried to help her put them on.

Instead of trying to take Derek’s place or brush off Zola’s story, DeLuca shares the tumor story with her and tells her how her father was an amazing surgeon. It’s a very sweet moment that makes us love DeLuca more than we already do. If there was ever going to be another man besides Derek, I’m happy that it’s DeLuca.
