Stranger Things: David Harbour asks the Duffer Brothers if Hopper is alive

Is Hopper still alive in Stranger Things 4? David Harbour and Seth Myers called the Duffer Brothers on Late Night to find out!

Stranger Things star David Harbour appeared Late Night with Seth Myers to talk Stranger Things 3, Hopper’s fate, and working on Netflix’s best show with a group of teenagers.

After Myers asked if Harbour’s character was still alive, Harbour claims he doesn’t know. Instead of spending the time to discuss the possibilities, Harbour decides to take the question to the only people who know the answer: the Duffer Brothers.

Harbour, then, FaceTimes the Duffer Brothers from the show. It’s a pretty funny moment, and they don’t look entirely thrilled to be put on the spot, although Myers offers them a dollar bill for their troubles.

So, is Hopper still alive?

Unfortunately, the Duffer Brothers didn’t bite on Harbour and Myers pressuring them to announce the news that Hopper is still alive, but it’s still good to see the creators are starting to feel the pressure from fans, including Harbour and Myers.

I think most fans are expecting Hopper will survive the events of the Stranger Things 3 finale. I don’t know how the show would move forward without Hopper, but there’s a chance, I guess, that his character was actually killed in the explosion at Starcourt. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but it’s possible.

There are a few possibilities as to how Hopper could have escaped. Many fans noticed the ladder at the end of the platform. Hopper could have jumped from the platform or scurried down the ladder to be captured by the Russians who were fleeing the base. Those fans believe he is “the American” in Russian. Others believe Hopper found a way into the Upside Down.

Stranger Things 4 is officially underway. Netflix renewed the series for season 4 at the end of September, although we all knew the new season was happening. With the writers and Duffers working on the new season, we’ll probably find out soon what happened at the end of season 3.

There were reports that the new season of the series was going to begin filming in October, but that has yet to be confirmed by Netflix. It doesn’t seem like production is starting anytime soon, and that, of course, will affect the season 4 release date on Netflix.
