Where to stream Practical Magic for Halloween 2019

Halloween is coming and Practical Magic is a must-watch during the haunted season, but where is the film available to stream?

Practical Magic premiered back in 1998 and is perfectly suited for Halloween. Practical Magic is an adaptation from Alice Hoffman’s popular novel of the same name and is about a family of witches which is a perfect theme for Halloween.

Halloween has become known as the season for children dressing up in costumes and going trick-or-treating. The day is also affiliated with spooky monsters like vampires, were-wolfs, and ghosts…oh my.

However, what isn’t as well known is that Halloween or Samhain, as it known among Wiccans and Witches, is the Witches New Year. Samhain is a major Sabbath and is celebrated by pagans and witches all over the world. It is a day of magic when the veil between the world of the living and the dead is at it thinnest. And, that makes Practical Magic the perfect movie to watch during the season of witches. It gives you a small peek into not only the magical world but also into the bond between two sisters.

In the film, Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian (Nicole Kidman), sisters, move in with their two spinster aunts. Unbeknownst to Sally and Gillian their Aunt Frances (Stockard Channing) and Aunt Bridget (Dianne West) are witches and learn they are witches, too. In fact, they are the fourth generation of witches.

The sisters have been raised in an unmagical world, but when they are bullied and teased by their classmates about being witches, this pushes the sisters even further away from wanting their inheritance.

That’s until Gillian is possessed by the spirit of her dead ex-boyfriend and now Sally must connect with her heritage if she is to save Gillian. Practical Magic is a heartwarming and insightful movie into the dynamics of sisters, and how in the end love truly does conquers all.

Unfortunately, Netflix will not be streaming Griffin Dunne’s adaptation of Practical Magic. In fact, none of the big streaming giants are carrying the film this Halloween.

You can only watch this delightful movie on on-demand streaming services such as YouTube, Amazon Prime, Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play. However, keep an eye on the streaming channels as it will sure to be streaming after Halloween.

As disappointing as it is that Netflix isn’t streaming this magical movie, they do have a long list of other great Halloween movies for you to watch this fall.
