Now that fans of Marianne on Netflix are over the haunting nightmares, we want more! Will the streaming giant renew the horror series?

When Netflix released Marianne, we were all immediately intrigued and curious to learn all about this evil witch. The French horror series remained undiscovered by audiences for a few days, but it has slowly been creeping on our screens and viewers are now too addicted to stop watching. If you still have not finished season 1, do so now before reading ahead as spoilers follow!

The series follows Emma (Victoire Du Bois), a young horror novelist who became popular and wealthy for her book about a witch named Marianne. Despite the money, Emma is an alcoholic and clearly lonely. The reason why she’s so secretive and unattached to anyone comes to light when Marianne returns to haunt her after Emma decides to stop writing.

As much as Emma wishes Marianne weren’t real, she very much is. In fact, Marianne used to haunt Emma and her childhood friends after they summoned her while playing around with spirits, killing one of their loved ones. Now, the evil witch is back to take something from each of them unless Emma writes again.

The series is a slow burn, but after you get through the first couple of episodes, it’s impossible to turn away. The season finale is packed with questions and a mind-blowing cliffhanger. Simply put, we need another season for our minds to rest in peace with answers. So is another season on the way?

Unfortunately, Netflix has not renewed the series, but the good news is that it has also not been canceled. With it only having premiered just over a week ago, there’s still time for news to surface. Let’s hope we learn about the show’s fate sooner than later because the suspense is killing me!

Marianne season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
