Looking for something spooky to watch this Halloween season? We have you covered with the 31 best Netflix movies to watch for Halloween 2019!

It’s that time of year again! The leaves are changing color which could only mean one thing–Halloween is officially upon us. For many, this is the best time of year as horror lovers get to celebrate the holiday all season long. Sure, there are a ton of Netflix movies gearing up to make their debut but there are already a large number of great films right at your fingertips.

Netflix holds a wide array of horror movies from all categories of the genre. There are movies focusing on the supernatural, the occult, slashers, and terrifying monsters. The titles range from psychological thrillers to fun spooks for the whole family to beloved classics. Of course, there are also a few movies for comedy lovers.

Aside from the titles already streaming on Netflix, a number of new movies will be debuting throughout September and October. The titles are part of the “Netflix and Chills” slate of programming, Netflix’s celebration of horror leading up to Halloween.

Since the number of titles on Netflix could be overwhelming, we put together a list of 31 horror movies that are worth checking out. You could essentially watch one a day in October as a way to take part in the holiday.

31. We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Release Year: 2019

Directed By: Stacie Passon

Cast: Taissa Farmiga, Alexandra Daddario, Crispin Glover, Sebastian Stan

The movie was directed by Stacie Passon who is known for her work on TV shows such as Transparent, The Punisher, and American Gods. It’s based on Shirley Jackson’s 1962 novel by the same name. Jackson’s work is no stranger to Netflix with The Haunting of Hill House being a monumental hit when it debuted in 2018.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle follows two sisters, Merricat and Constance, who live in isolation with their ailing uncle. Constance hasn’t left the house in years after she was acquited for poisoning her parents. Her sister, however, travels to town each week where she is constantly harassed by those who think her sister is a murderer. Their cousin, Charles, comes to town and seems to have plans regarding the family fortune. He gets increasingly violent during his stay and the mob in town make matters even worse.

The mystery made its debut at the LA Film Festival in 2018 and has since made its way to Netflix to reach a wider audience. Taissa Farmiga and Alexandra Daddario star as the two sisters whereas MCU star Sebastian Stan portrays the role of Charles. Although the movie is more of a thriller than a horror, it would still be a good pick for the fall season.
