Over the last few years, your Netflix binge-watching might have brought you to Scream, the MTV television series based on the film series of the same name. However, the TV series only shares a title with the iconic, fan-favorite horror franchise. Ghostface was nowhere to be found. But you’re probably wondering what happened to the series. Well, this summer, Scream returned with Ghostface in tow, and fans can watch the newest chilling thrills unfold in the third season.

Scream’s third season, dubbed Scream: Resurrection, follows the exploits of a brand new group of teenagers, led by Deion Elliott (RJ Cyler), a local Atlanta football star who is, for all intents and purposes, the new Sidney Prescott. Ghostface returns to use tragic events and dark secrets from Deion’s past to torment him. As Ghostface unleashes a new reign of terror and with a brutal killing spree, Deion sees his bright future hanging in the balance, as well as the lives of those he loves. It all leads to the shocking reveal of Ghostface’s identity and their motives.

VH1’s third season of Scream follows the first two seasons of the horror adaptation, which aired on MTV from 2015 to 2016. As previously mentioned, those seasons and its characters aren’t contingent on the rebooted third season, which of course finds Ghostface at the center once again. Season 3 contains six episodes and aired back-to-back over three nights earlier this summer, attracting minimal buzz and lukewarm reviews. If you’re in the mood for pre-Halloween chills and a return to the Scream franchise, check out its latest iteration this month on Netflix.
