It’s never too soon to catch up with the Gallaghers, especially since a new season of Shameless is on the way in a matter of weeks. Even though the series has seen a marked drop in popularity over the last couple of seasons, its ninth season brought back an energy Shameless had been missing to send off Emmy Rossum and her series-anchor character Fiona Gallagher off into the sunset in style. Ahead of season 10’s premiere this fall, don’t miss season 9 when it makes its streaming premiere this September as one of the best new Netflix shows of the month.

In the ninth season of Shameless, the Gallagher family continues to hustle and struggle in the South Side of Chicago. Frank (William H. Macy) finds himself at the center of scandal after scandal, ultimately complicating his relationship with Ingrid (Katey Sagal) competing in a Hobo Loco competition. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) prepares for fatherhood while Ian (Cameron Monaghan) lands behind bars due to his antics, and Fiona stumbles and falls before picking herself back up and finding a way out of the South Side for good. The season also contains the landmark 100th episode.

Shameless said goodbye to Rossum in the final episode of the super-sized season 9, which features 14 episodes rather than the usual 12. But the series also briefly said goodbye to Cameron Monaghan, who departed after the first half of the season. However, he’ll return for season 10, along with Noel Fisher as fan-favorite character Mickey Milkovich. Season 9 also features memorable guest appearances from Courteney Cox and Bob Saget. Don’t miss your chance to catch up with the latest episode on Netflix before season 10 premieres on Nov. 3 on Showtime.
