The next reboot from Disney will be the early 2000s hit show, Lizzie McGuire. It will star Hilary Duff and stream on Disney Plus. Here are the details.

It’s the year of the reboot and it seems like Disney is remaking most of it’s content from the 90s and early 2000s. What’s the next thing they’re rebooting? Lizzie McGuire! The Disney Channel show that aired from 2001 to 2004 is making its comeback and with its star, Hilary Duff.

How is this possible? The show won’t be following Lizzie as a teenager this time around but will allow the audience to see what she’s up to as a 30 year old. Is she still friends with Miranda and Gordo? Are Gordo and her still together after what happened in The Lizzie McGuire Movie? Will we see any of the actors from the show?

Besides the fact that the original creator, Terri Minsky, is back at the helm of the show, not much else is know. It will air on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+. According to Deadline, the announcement was made during the D23 Expo and Hilary Duff let the cat out of the bag on her Instagram.

As a Lizzie McGuire fan back in the day, I am cautiously optimistic about this new series. Hilary Duff has more than proved her acting chops over the years and currently stars in TV Land’s Younger.  Hopefully, the creators can find a way to recreate the magic of the original show.

The kids who watched the original show are now around the same age as Lizzie will be. It will be interesting to see how the character has grown and what she’s doing now.
