24. The Carbonaro Effect

What it’s about: The Carbonaro Effect is an unscripted series that is designed to amaze and deceive. It’s a magic show, but sees Michael Carbonaro take to the streets to deceive and trick members of the public. He performs baffling tricks in everyday situations, with the use of hidden cameras to make sure that all reactions are genuine.

This is one of those shows purely for entertainment value. You don’t get to know how all the tricks are performed, either, keeping the mystery to them.

Why it’s loved so much: Sometimes, you just need to put something on for entertainment. There are times we just want to be amazed. And we want to see how people react to tricks, especially when we know that they’re being tricked or shown a performance.

That’s what The Carbonaro Effect offers. It’s just a show that brings magic to life, mixing the usual magic shows with unscripted, everyday reality.

Why it could be leaving Netflix soon: The first on this list is one of the WarnerMedia productions. It currently airs on TruTV, which is part of the Warner brand. It wouldn’t be surprising if this was one of the shows that leaves Netflix in favor of the upcoming WarnerMedia streaming site, HBO Max.

If you haven’t checked out the series yet, now is the time to do so. It’s back full of the weird and amazing, and right now you can binge-watch every episode with your Netflix subscription.
