Netflix shares the final trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Netflix shared the new trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and it looks incredible!

The newest trailer for the Jim Henson series coming exclusively to Netflix is a truly breathtaking and nostalgic ride. Growing up, this film was one that had a huge impact on me. Even as a child I loved the darker stuff and the original Dark Crystal movie was very dark for both its time and for the audience. While Henson studios was known for creating Kermit and all the incredible Muppets characters, darker fare with puppets wasn’t unusual for them.

On Twitter, it was revealed that this is the last trailer we will see before the series drops on the streaming giant on Aug. 30, and while the trailer doesn’t give us a lot of new information, it is by far the most stunning trailer I have ever seen.

The Netflix original series has an incredible voice cast, and in this trailer, we finally get a chance to hear some of those voices. Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lena Headey, Alicia Vikander, and more voice major characters in the series.

The series consists of 10 episodes, and all will be available to stream on Netflix on Aug. 30.

Goosebumps started welling up when I saw the masterful mix of the real puppets that Henson is so famous for and the incredible CGI work from the post-production team. The visuals are truly heart-stopping and I was impressed with how it felt both true to the original story but also new and exciting as something we haven’t seen.

This series is set about 1,000 years before the film took place but it shows all the recognizable species we were introduced to in the 1982 film. I am very excited about this story line and can’t wait to see where the writers take us with this new iteration of a much-loved Henson property.

Jim Henson Studios has a huge place in my heart, not only for having created some of my favorite films and characters that influenced my childhood but it’s also where I had graduate workshops for Stephens College MFA in TV/Screenwriting. I spent weeks on the studio lot and felt the creativity running through that place. It really is a joy to see this series being brought to life and I hope we get to see more partnerships with Netflix and the Henson.
