Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 might not be released by Halloween

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 probably won’t be released on Netflix by Halloween 2019, according to showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

It might be a little longer than we thought until we see Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 on Netflix.

According to a report from TheWrap, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, said he didn’t know if Part 3 would be released by Halloween 2019. That’s when most were expecting this series.

The first season premiered on Netflix on Oct. 26, 2018, and it worked out that many fans binge-watched over Halloween week. Many fans were hoping to do the same for Part 3.

Here is what Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap about the release date for the season:

"“I don’t actually know. I don’t think we’d be ready for Halloween. I have no idea, not a clue.”"

Aguirre-Sacasa has a lot going on at the minute with this show, Riverdale, and Katy Keene, so I understand why he’s not especially concerned with the release date for the new show.

He also gave an update on how far along in production they are on Part 3, via TheWrap:

"“We are writing Episode 8, we are starting to shoot Episode 6, so we’re nearing the halfway mark. And that’s been going great, I’m really proud of those episodes, they’re really, really fun.”"

Episode 8 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 will likely be the midseason finale of the second season. There are 16 episodes on the way in the second season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. According to Netflix, the season will be split into two parts, and we are assuming those two parts will be eight episodes each.

Technically speaking, Part 3 is the beginning of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2. The first season consisted of 20 episodes split into two, 10-episode parts. Most will consider this upcoming batch of episodes to be season 3 of the series. It’s confusing, but this new batch of episodes is the first part of season 2, and it’s called Part 3. Hopefully, that makes sense for viewers.

In a way, it’s good news that they are this far along in the process. They’ve finished filming more than half of Part 3’s episodes. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to watch new episodes of this show by Halloween, this is probably not-so-good news.

Netflix is going to need a few months to roll this series out. They need to promote it, and that takes time. Meanwhile, they also need to start putting this series together, and that takes time, too.

I’m hopeful we’ll see Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 on Netflix later this year. If filming wraps soon, they should be able to get these new episodes edited and promoted for November or December release date. That’d be a good time to watch this series, especially since there aren’t many Halloween-type storylines in the works for this season. We already saw that in season 1, and I doubt they’ll bring it back to Halloween in Part 3. It seems like the shows has taken a bit of a different turn with the whole Hell storyline clearly in the works.

As you recall, at the end of Part 2, Sabrina and the Fright Club made a pact to go to Hell to get Sabrina’s boyfriend back. That should be the major storyline of the new episodes.

So, when will we see Part 3?

If Aguirre-Sacasa doesn’t know when the new episodes will be released, how can we possibly know? I still think Netflix will want to release new episodes this year. We saw Part 2 this spring, and I don’t think Netflix will want to wait until next spring to see the new episodes. For now, expect the new episodes to arrive later this year until we hear any differently.
