1. Who is the “American” in the cell?

For the first time in Stranger Things‘ history, there was a post-credits scene.

Not only was it a complete surprise, but it brought up a load of new questions. As the Russian soldiers walked through the facility, one of them went to open a cell door before the other man said: “no, not the American.” They then take the person in the next cell and feed him to a Demogorgon.

So who is the American being held in Kamchatka, Russia? it sure seems likely that it will be someone previously shown in the series. It’s possible that it could be Dr. Brenner since many theorized he would be back in season 3 or beyond. But why would the Russians have him and what would they want from him in the first place?

Whoever the Russians have, it would need to be someone important to the plot. Or someone that would play an integral part in the future of the series. Post-credits scenes are used to tease what’s to come for a particular show or movie. There’s a reason the Russians pointed out the fact that they had an American being held hostage.

It’s also possible that the person in the cell was Jim Hopper, which brings us to our next question.
