In case you missed last night’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead, it included a major Easter Egg hinting at the upcoming Walking Dead movies starring Andrew Lincoln. Does this mean Rick Grimes will appear on the companion series before the movies?

On last night’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead, several startling truths came to light. Among those was the reveal that Annie (Bailey Gavulic) and Max (Ethan Suess) had been lying to Morgan’s group all along. Dylan (Cooper Dodson) wound up telling Luciana (Danay Garcia) about the ruse then directed Morgan (Lennie James) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) towards the area where Annie was last seen.

After a small search of the area, Alicia and Morgan find the kids but they’re not alone. It turns out that Annie was working with a large group of kids the whole time. She and her friends cautiously discuss what to do with Morgan’s group, though their time is cut short by an unexpected arrival.

What happens is a helicopter flies over the area. Annie orders her friends to lie down on the floor, imitating the dead. Morgan and Alicia follow suit, ensuring no one is spotted by the people flying above. They remain on the ground until Annie gives the all clear to stand.

When the group does, everyone can clearly see the symbol printed on the helicopter’s side — a symbol which matches up identically to the chopper that picked up Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) on The Walking Dead. This all but confirms their prominent presence in the Walking Dead universe.

Now that we’ve seen the helicopter resurface, it goes to reason that Rick could be on his way to FTWD. Information on the upcoming movies suggests Rick (Lincoln) is heading directly there but who’s to say he won’t make a surprise appearance on Fear before that.

Without speculating too much, a lead-in established on Fear The Walking Dead would be the perfect way to build up the coming plot. Some fans might look towards TWD as a possible setup for the movie’s storyline but seeing as how the timeline has jumped forwards several years it’s difficult to picture a feasible lead-in coming from TWD. Plus, Season 10 is reportedly going to jump forward in time once again.

In any case, CRM’s return all but signals Rick Grimes’ imminent appearance. It’s still too early to tell if a cameo on Fear The Walking Dead is in the cards, though we wouldn’t rule out the possibility.
