Netflix renewed Lucifer for season 5, but the streaming network didn’t announce how many episodes will be in Lucifer season 5, the final season of the Netflix series.

Lucifer season 5 is officially happening at Netflix. The news was reported about a month after the Lucifer season 4 premiere on Netflix.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much new information in the renewal announcement. As this will be the final season of the series, fans are already starting to wonder about how many episodes of Lucifer are left.

Netflix didn’t announce the episode count yet, but that shouldn’t worry fans of the series. Lucifer season 4 was 10 episodes, and while some would say that was too short, that’s probably around what we’ll get in the final season. Fans probably aren’t used to the short season because FOX used to have 20+ episode seasons of the series.

Fans should expect between 8-13 episodes in Lucifer season 5. Shows like Stranger Things and The Witcher hover around that eight-episode mark each season, while other Netflix dramas have gotten the standard 13-episode season.

More. Why Lucifer is ending after season 5. light

In the past, Netflix almost always ordered 13-episode seasons of their original shows. Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, along with all the Netflix-Marvel shows, came it at 13 episodes per season, usually.

That strategy has changed recently for Netflix. Now, we’re seeing a lot more shows getting seasons with 8-10 episodes. As mentioned, Lucifer season 5 was 10 episodes. I think it’s likely Netflix and the creators will stick with that 10-episode arc for consistency, but that’s purely my prediction at this point.

There’s also some variance when it comes to final seasons of Netflix shows. We could end up with an odd number of episodes, like seven or nine, or even 11, if that’s what the story dictates. If the creators need an extra episode here or there to squeeze everything in and tie up all the loose ends, that remains a possibility. Remember, this is Netflix, and they do, pretty much, whatever they want.

Fans shouldn’t have to worry too much about the episode count of Lucifer season 5, though. I know it’s a bit odd that we still don’t know yet, but this is very normal for a show like this. It’s likely that Joe Henderson, Idly Modrovich and the writers are just getting started breaking the story for season 5, and they probably don’t know exactly how many episodes they will need.

It’s all going to come down to story for Lucifer season 5, and that should be reassuring for fans. If Henderson and Modrovich can get the story told in eight episodes, then the final season might be eight episodes. I think that’d be a little short, but it’s likely up to the writing team to figure out how many episodes should be in the final season.

We’ll learn more about the final season of Lucifer and its episode count in the near future. Stay tuned for more news about the hit series.
