The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton

The need for beauty, a royal palace, secrets, powers, and a strong heroine, what more could you want?

Dhonielle Clayton weaves a glamorous, extravagant world that would make a cinematic masterpiece Netflix would be lucky to pick up. Released in 2018, The Belles is only the first book in The Belles series followed by The Everlasting Rose which was released in early 2019.

The story follows Camellia Beauregard, a Belle, who is looking for so much more than the life she’s been given. Belles control beauty in a world of gray. Only with the help of a Belle can a person be made truly beautiful.

But when Camellia and her fellow Belles go to the palace in order for one of them to be chosen as the favorite by the Queen of Orleans, she finds that being a favorite is not all it is cracked up to be. The fancy palace hides many secrets, secrets about Camellia’s very existence. She might have more power than she ever thought possible.

And when the queen herself asks her to use her powers to help the princess, Camellia has to make the ultimate choice. Should she help the princess, risk her life, and change the world she has known forever?

Turning this series into a Netflix show would be extraordinary. It already has a wide fan base, would give Netflix another diverse show which they desperately need, and comes with a  world and a story that is both unique and interesting.

The Belles is begging to be made into a show. Seeing the gowns, the palace, and the beauty of the world of Orleans would be amazing!
