10 best new Netflix original shows and movies coming in May 2019

10. ReMastered: The Lion’s Share

If you have been following the Netflix originals series, Remastered, then you will already know what it is all about. For those of you who have never heard of it before, it is a documentary style series focusing on high-profile events that have happened that have influenced some of the biggest names in the musical industry.

Some of the past episodes they have done include the blues legend, Robert Johnson. The American blues singer and songwriter’s life is surrounding in mystery and theory. Due to his sudden and mysterious death, many people believe Johnson made a deal with the devil at the crossroads, giving him his musical talent.

This month, the Netflix original will be The Lion’s Share, and it will be investigating the events that led up to, and after, the world-famous song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

This song was used in the animated Disney movie, The Lion King, and if you happen to know the history and controversy around the song you will probably know what the bulk of the Netflix original will focus on.

I won’t spoil anything for those of you who are not familiar with the history, but pretty much, Solomon Linda, the writer of the song was treated very poorly.

ReMastered: The Lion’s Share will look at how Solomon Linda was unfairly treated for creating “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and what happened afterward in an effort to make things right.

This will be a really insightful Netflix original to watch this month when it drops on May 10. Definitely worth making some time for if you are a fan of music or even just The Lion King itself.
