Riverdale: Luke Perry’s best moments as Fred Andrews

Tonight marks the last Riverdale episode Luke Perry filmed. As we say goodbye, let’s take a look at three great Fred Andrews moments.

Last month, Luke Perry passed away after suffering a stroke. The 52-year-old actor was a beloved character on Riverdale as he played devoted father Fred Andrews to Archie Andrews (KJ Apa).

Show developer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that tonight’s episode (April 24, 2019) is the last episode Perry filmed. Since the beginning of the series, we’ve seen Fred’s constant support to Archie and how he’s usually his voice of reason.

Fred has only shown up in some short scenes in the last few episodes, but they were no less impactful or sweet like last week’s episode when Fred noticed Archie and Veronica are “just friends.” Hopefully, tonight, as Aguirre-Sacasa’s tweet implies, we will see Archie and Fred together one last time.

There are so many great Fred Andrews moments in Riverdale. These are my favorite moments from the series:

When Fred punched Hiram

This scene was quick, but oh so good. It was so satisfying to see Hiram get punched in the face after framing a teenager for murder. Hiram definitely deserved the hit to the face and I’m so glad Fred went for it. Through this whole plot, we saw Fred’s unwavering support to his son, which is why it’s one of my favorites.

When Fred ran for mayor

Fred would have made a wonderful mayor for the messed up town of Riverdale. I loved seeing his excitement during the campaign and all the plans he was making. He actually cares about his town and would have tried to be fair, unlike the shady Lodges. He definitely would have gotten my vote!

When Fred cheered Archie on

As I said before, Fred’s always supported Archie. We’ve seen him at Archie’s talent show in season 1, and of course, he was at Archie’s boxing match in last week’s episode. It was a really quick pan to Fred in the audience throughout the match, but I loved seeing his facial expressions. He was wincing, then was like ‘this boy is getting punched so hard,’ to a proud and relieved smile when he won.

The show will be addressing this loss, but it’s not known yet how they will be handling the storyline.

Riverdale season 3 only has a few episodes remaining. The full season is coming to Netflix in May.
