The disappearance of the lifeguard

As we know from the episode title, “Chapter Three: The Case of the Missing Lifeguard,” some poor lifeguard is going to go missing. While Indiana doesn’t have beaches, they still have lifeguards at their community pools. With the show dropping in the summer, it’s no surprise that people will want to find a way to cool off.

The lifeguard, played by Francesca Reale, is set for a recurring role in the season. That means we could be introduced to her in one of the first two episodes, or the third episode will be her introduction and the mystery will be solved in the later episodes.

Either way, there’s going to be quite a bit for the show to flesh out with this lifeguard and why she’s important enough to have a recurring role. Deadline reported the casting and they only had a brief description of the character.

"Reale will play Heather, a popular lifeguard at the Hawkins Community Pool who becomes the centerpiece of a dark mystery."

Reale looks like she would be playing a character in high school, given that she’s able to have a summer job as a lifeguard. Does she know Steve, Billy, Nancy or Jonathan? Steve is really the only one who might still fall into the “popular” category since Billy felt like the outsider cool guy, who probably tried a little too hard. Plus, Nancy and Jonathan have their own thing going on, which may have put a ding in Nancy’s popularity factor.

There are many things we don’t know about Heather, the main one being that we have no clue how she’ll go missing. However, the dark mystery sounds like something exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing how this new character plays out.
