10. Will we see more Uhtred and Hild?

This is one of the best partnerships on the whole series. Hild is not a person to let Uhtred knock her down or get away with pushing his ego around. She calls him out when he’s acting unfairly or unreasonably, but will also support him when she believes him to be right. All she wants is respect in turn for giving it, and that’s something Uhtred can offer.

There’s certainly plenty of banter between the two. Uhtred’s face lights up when Hild walks into a room — and not because she’s a love interest. She’s a friend, someone that he knows he can trust. There are few people in his life that he would lay his life on the line for, especially Christian people, but Hild is one of them. And likely vice versa.

The Last Kingdom season 3 didn’t have much of the two together. Hild was the one to tell Uhtred that Gisela had died and even respected his need to give her a pagan funeral (despite it meaning digging up consecrated ground). After that, we didn’t really see her (or the two together) until the end of the season and that separation was felt.

Seeing both together helps to add some happiness to Uhtred’s life. It lightens up the scenes and offers a chance for some internal character development for Uhtred in a positive way. We’re going to need to see more of that in the fourth season.

Plus, Hild with Uhtred means some comedic moments. While Uhtred’s followers certainly add their own comedy, Hild brings in a feminine comedic element, pulling the female viewers back in while given men something more to ponder.
