There are only two episodes of NBC’s Manifest left this season and the mysteries are only getting bigger. What will happen during those final moments?

Warning! Spoilers for the latest episodes of Manifest follow. You’ve been warned.

On the most recent episode of Manifest, audiences learned that The Major (Elizabeth Marvel) wasn’t actually behind Flight 828’s disappearance. She and her associates are interested in Cal (Jack Messina) and the other passengers but they didn’t manipulate the mysterious phenomena that continue to raise questions.

The bad news is that The Major now has a bird’s eye view of all the action. She recently purchased a penthouse adjacent to the city, which gives her direct access to the Flight 828 passengers. We’ve already seen one of her agents at the Church Of The Returned gathering—spying on Ben Stone (Josh Dallas) at the meeting.

Jansen (Brandon Schraml) casually walked in like any other follower and no one seemed to notice. He’s been around before but now we know The Major has her pawns in close proximity of the Stone family—and she’s definitely interested in Cal’s abilities.

What we’re concerned with is when The Major will finally decide to take control of the situation. She’s kept her dogs from capturing Cal and the other passengers so far, but with only two episodes left this season, her patience will only extend so far. At the same time, that means the Stone family could be in serious danger if they don’t expose The Major’s operation.

There’s also the matter of Zeke (Matt Long) entering the picture. He wasn’t on Flight 828 but somehow disappeared for an entire year—making him another mystery yet to be unraveled. The organization keeping tabs on Flight 828 haven’t caught wind of Zeke yet, but when they do, he’ll become an equally important target.

Lastly, James Griffin (Marc Menchaca) surviving his ordeal underwater raises another important question for the last two episodes—what the heck is going on?

From the start, audiences knew that sci-fi elements would be a recurring theme on Manifest, but no one ever guessed that death could be sidestepped the way it has on the show. James surviving days underwater and Zeke waiting out a year-long storm are just two examples, but the implications extend far beyond the events shown so far.

What we do know is that James’ mind isn’t as clouded as Zeke’s was when he walked out of his cave. The promo for episode fifteen “Hard Landing” shows him talking to Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) about her narrow-minded perspective in a very ominous manner. While the exchange is brief, James seems to know quite a bit more about the Callings than anyone else does.

Now, depending on what James knows, he could blow the lid on everything that’s happened. Clues have pointed in a wide variety of directions but nothing concrete has been established yet. Of course, someone was bound to come along with important information on the phenomenon—James could be that guy.

In any case, James and Zeke are being set up to play important parts in the Season One Finale. How that’ll turn out is anyone’s guess, though we’re starting to think that an alien presence is to blame. We’re not talking about little green men here, but perhaps an intelligent species other than humans has taken an interest in them—us—same thing.
