The Ranch: Sam Elliott says season 4 will “supposedly” be the last season

Based on Sam Elliott’s recent comments, it looks like The Ranch season 4 will be the final season of the series.

It’s starting to look more and more like The Ranch season 4 will be the last season of the Netflix original series.

Last week, Variety reported The Ranch was filming its fourth and final season in a profile piece about Sam Elliott and his role in A Star is Born. This week, Deadline interviewed Elliott about A Star is Born, and in the final question, Elliott mentioned The Ranch season 4 is “supposedly” the final season of the series.

That seems to be very much in line with what Variety had reported earlier, so that’s obviously not a good sign for fans of The Ranch. Elliott was responding to a question about what’s next for him as an actor.

We shared Elliott’s comments below, via Deadline.

"“I committed to doing The Ranch for five years. We’re finishing up our fourth season, supposedly, that’s the end of it, but if they choose to go again, I’ll go again. By the end of five years it would be a hundred episodes. It’s going to be 80 by the end of this year.”"

As it appears, when Elliott and the gang started filming The Ranch for Netflix, he committed to doing five seasons of the show. There are 20 episodes of the show per year, so that’s obviously the “hundred” he is referencing.

So far, 60 episodes of the show have aired on Netflix, and there are 20 more episodes coming in 2019. We’re expecting Part 7 to hit Netflix in June 2019 with Part 8 coming in December 2019, at the time of publishing.

Elliott did leave fans with a glimmer of hope in that response, though. As you read, he says “if they choose to go again,” according to the interview. So, there’s a chance the show could continue, but based on what’s been reported so far, it looks like Elliott and those involved with the series have been told that season 4 would be the final season.

Netflix has yet to comment on the future of the series. As we have learned, nothing is official until Netflix renews or cancels a series. We will continue to provide as many updates about The Ranch as we can.
