Stranger Things season 2 goes big with more visual effects

Stranger Things season 2 will feature “bigger” and more visual effects than the first season. Currently, the season is in post-production.

We are still a few months away from the premiere of Stranger Things season 2, but that’s not stopping the Duffer bros. from giving fans a little more to get excited about while we wait.

According to an Deadline Hollywood interview with the Duffer Bros, the creators of Stranger Things, Ross Duffer claimed the Stranger Things season 2 is a much “bigger” season than the first season. Duffer also said the new season will feature “many more” visual effects.

When Duffer says “bigger,” he is not talking about more episodes. Although Stranger Things season 2 is going to be nine episodes, one more than the first season of the series, Duffer is likely referring to the scale of the production compared to the first season.

Here is the full quote on the new season and the visual effects, via Deadline: 

"“We just did color and mixing on the first few episodes, so we’re over halfway through, really. It is a bigger season in some regards, but a lot of it is just new to us, sitting and going through visual effects shots. We had some last year, but we have many more this year, so that’s a new experience for us,” Ross Duffer says."

The first season of Stranger Things definitely had more than enough visual effects for me. The demogorgon and the Upside Down world were terrifying and felt incredibly real, and I think that has everything to do with the quality of the effects and how they were presented.

I still think about those scenes when the demogorgon is inside the walls of the Byers’ home trying to force its way out. It gives me nightmares!

I’m assuming most of the second season effects will revolve around the giant spider thing stomping around Hawkins. We only got a small glimpse of the creature from the two teaser trailers of the series and the first official poster for Stranger Things season 2.
