It's been quite some time since Will Ferrell gave us a wildly memorable and ridiculously hilarious new character to quote, but his upcoming Netflix original comedy series will sure do the trick. As we continue to get deeper into 2026, Netflix has been steadily locking its upcoming content into place on the schedule, and the highly anticipated comedy from Ferrell now has a release window.

The streamer had been keeping mum on most details surrounding the high-profile comedy series. For instance, we didn't even know what the show would be titled when it was originally announced, only that it would star Will Ferrell and prominently feature golf. But now we know the show's title, Ferrell's character's name, and when to expect the laughs to hit our watch list.

Will Ferrell's The Hawk gets release window from Netflix

Netflix announced the comedy's title as The Hawk, which is derived from the nickname of Ferrell's character Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins. The 10-episode series, which marks Ferrell's first series regular television role, will be released in summer 2026. The streamer didn't provide a specific release month for the summer, but we can expect The Hawk to fly in June, July, or August.

In addition to the announcement of the title and release window, Netflix also dropped the first set of three teasers, but rather than being a teaser for The Hawk, it's actually a teaser for Lonnie Hawkins himself. There's no footage from the series actually provided, so we don't have a first-look at the show, but we have an incredible introduction to Ferrell's latest larger-than-life character.

Much like the sports comedy films Ferrell frequently fronted throughout the 2000s, he once again breathes life into a star athlete that's a little past his prime. Lonnie Hawkins was the top golf pro in 2004 and has enjoyed a storied career, but now in the "back nine" of that successful career, he's resisting the urge to give it all up and retire. He still wants one last round in the PGA Tour.

Lonnie's ex-wife Stacy (Molly Shannon) and his son Lance (Jimmy Tatro), who has followed in his father's footsteps and has become the latest hot shot on the green, can see that Lonnie probably doesn't have much steam left in his swing, but he's not giving up. The Hawk follows Lonnie as he looks to complete the Grand Slam and make the stunning comeback he truly believes in.

In addition to Ferrell, Shannon, and Tatro, The Hawk also stars Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby in its main cast, and knowing Ferrell, there's almost certainly going to be number of surprise guest stars and cameos in store. In the coming months, as summer gets closer, Netflix will share more details, like the release date and official trailer.
