When does East of Eden come out on Netflix? (release time by time zone)

It's going to be a major fall season with Netflix's new releases as a number of exciting originals debut week after week. The streaming service kicks things off right at the top of October with the highly anticipated release of East of Eden. Florence Pugh stars in the limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck's classic novel, which comes from creator and writer Zoe Kazan.

Pugh takes on the leading role of Cathy Ames, recentering the focus of Steinbeck's novel from the Trask brothers Adam (Christopher Abbott) and Charles (Mike Faist) to the enticing antihero. East of Eden follows the collision of Cathy and the Trask family over the course of many years and generations from the Civil War through the first World War.

Since the limited series was first announced through the cast promoting the series on the press tour, East of Eden has been one of the new Netflix original limited series viewers have been looking forward to most. When is East of Eden release on Netflix?

East of Eden premieres on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026 on Netflix with every episode of the limited series dropping at once. The series contains seven total episodes, which is an odd number, but don't expect an eighth episode to come later to end the season. As much as we'd want to watch even more of these performances, it's a limited series, after all, and it will remain just that—limited.

Like the vast majority of Netflix original scripted series, East of Eden drops at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET, an overnight release that's not particularly convenient for fans in the United States wanting to watch as soon as the show premieres. But for fans in other parts of the world, the release time will be much more convenient to start watching right away upon the show's release on Oct. 1.

While Kazan's take on East of Eden is expected to be a faithful adaptation, it's also taking a slightly different approach with a new perspective of Cathy's character. Netflix has referred to the limited series as a "modern interpretation" of the story, which should be a particularly enticing detail for fans to look forward to. Pugh will surely have even more to sink her teeth into for her performance.
