The Waterfront is almost upon us. The drama revolves around the Buckley family, who have a fishing empire in Havenport, North Carolina. The patriarch (Harlan Buckley, played by Holt McCallany) suffers two heart attacks, and chaos ensues as his wife, Mae, and son, Cane, try to keep the business going, but things only worsen. Harlan has to take back control.
If that premise sounds odd because, well...it's a fishing empire in Havenport, NC, and not, say, Seattle, then just go with it. What matters is who is involved in the project.
If you were a fan of the CW over the last decade or so, you will be pretty happy with who is involved with the new Netflix series. Heck, you might not even care what the plot is. Maybe you could enjoy the actors engaged if they were playing a game of cards.
The Waterfront drops on Netflix in June
This might imply what we should expect from the series. That would mean a lot of drama, a glossy production, tight interpersonal relationships, and a bit of camp. If that sounds entertaining, great.
Netflix recently dropped some first-look photographs of The Waterfront. You will recognize many faces. Danielle Campbell played Davina Claire on The Originals, and she will be a lead on the Netflix project. So will Melissa Benoist, Kara Zor-El from Supergirl. The Vampire Diaries Zach Roenig is listed as a guest star on the new show, but maybe his character will grow with the show.

Kevin Williamson, co-creator of The Vampire Diaries, also produces and writes The Waterfront. That should mean good things because he also wrote the Scream films. Those were terrific fun, so maybe the Netflix series will be, too.

The series will feature some actors who were not involved with CW shows. Mario Bello stars as Mae Buckley and Jake Weary plays Cane Buckley, for instance.

Of course, we won't be joining the Buckleys at their best. The empire is beginning to fall, and we will get to watch the family deal with the forthcoming ruins. Can they keep the business afloat? We do not yet know.

The Waterfront is scheduled to drop on June 19. Fans of the CW likely cannot wait.
