Netflix has hit the ground running with some of the best new releases front-loading the beginning of 2026, and the streaming service isn't slowing down one bit. There have been plenty new seasons of proven hits to keep our watch lists filled, but the streamer is debuting a star-studded new series that's steamy and unexpected and sure to become the next streaming sensation.

Based on the novel of the same name by Julia May Jonas, Vladimir stars Oscar winner Rachel Weisz as a college professor who becomes enamored with her younger colleague. The White Lotus and One Day star Leo Woodall plays the title character, who's sure to have viewers swooning just as much as Weisz's character, M. But when can we start untangling the twisted web of these characters?

If you're looking to start March 2026 with an enticing new binge-watch, we're sharing everything you need to know before you dive into Vladimir. From the release date and time to who else stars in the series to what else to expect from the latest Netflix original, here's a preview of the series!

When is the Vladimir release date on Netflix?

Vladimir premieres on Thursday, March 5, 2026 on Netflix as the first major original release for the stream of the month. Just like with most of Netflix's original scripted content, the series begins streaming at 3 a.m. ET, which is 12 a.m PT. For those in the United States, that's a bit too late (or early, depending on how you look at it) to start watching as soon as the show debuts. But every episode will be available as of March 5 and certainly makes for can't-miss weekend binge!

How many episodes are there in Vladimir on Netflix?

Vladimir contains eight episodes, which will be released all at once. Netflix has been marketing the series as a limited series, meaning the first season should be completely self-contained and bring the story to a fitting conclusion. Aside from only having eight episodes, each one only has a running time of about 30 minutes. Technically, it would take about four hours total to watch the series from start to finish in one sitting. But don't expect any additional episodes to drop once you finish!

Who's stars in the miniseries with Rachel Weisz?

As previously mentioned, Rachel Weisz leads the series and Leo Woodall stars as the male lead and title character. Vladimir's main cast also includes John Slattery as M's husband John, Ellen Robertson as M and John's daughter Sid, and Jessica Henwick as Vladimir's wife Cynthia. It's a small cast, which makes sense given the lack of the series and its episodes.

In addition to the excellent main cast that's full of talented stars, Vladimir also boasts a recurring cast featured throughout the series, and you'll certainly recognize some familiar faces. Take a closer look at the full main and recurring cast list below:

  • Rachel Weisz as M
  • Leo Woodall as Vladimir Vladinski
  • John Slattery as John

What to expect from Vladimir

Before its release, Vladimir has been described as sexy and steamy, which should be at least somewhat obvious given the show's synopsis and source material. In the series, M becomes infatuated with a handsome co-worker and writer, leading to daydreams and wishes that help remove her from the chaos and monotony of her current personal and professional lives.

Check out the official synopsis via Netflix's press release:

"When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. Seduction and obsession collide in Vladimir—a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life."

Some viewers might be expected something of a mystery, but this isn't a murder mystery thriller that's going to keep us guessing with new clues. Vladimir does have a certain level of intrigue in its narrative as M begins to unravel her life. Expect the show to be a bit witty, especially as M speaks directly to the audience, though she might not always be telling us the real truth.

Is there a trailer for the new Netflix show?

Yes! Netflix released the official trailer for the limited series, which perfectly previews how the plot comes together. M's self-described obsession with Vladimir consumes her and clearly pushes her to the brink. The trailer teases the heights of what's to come, including a fire, steamy intimate scenes, and the tense world of academia. Netflix also dropped a preview featurette with the cast and crew talking about the series, but first, watch the sizzling trailer in the video below!
