The latest Harlan Coben adaptation, Missing You, was launched early in January on Netflix. As usual with a Coben story-based series, this one is going down a storm. The show is currently number one on the global Netflix viewing list

It’s another story with Coben’s trademark twists and turns, mystery, and suspense as the story unravels over five episodes. Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar, faces up to a series of mysterious and troubling events that become connected. That includes the shooting of her father some years before.

Missing You followed on from the success of Fool Me Once, another Coben story released on Netflix in 2023. Before those we had  Safe (2018), The Stranger (2020), and Stay Close (2022).  They’ve left us all keen for more from the Coben catalog on our Netflix screens.

Two new Harlan Coben shows heading for Netflix

Thankfully the deal signed by Coben and Netflix back in 2018 was extended in 2022 for another four years. That means we should have plenty more adaptations of his books to look forward to. While there are plans around the world for several more adaptations in a variety of languages, there are two which are likely to be the next ones for the US and UK audiences at least.

Run Away

Production was expected to begin on Run Away in late 2024, suggesting this could be the next to appear on our screens. The storyline involves a missing daughter struggling with a drug addiction. Her parents are searching for her amid added concerns over her abusive boyfriend. More disturbing facts are revealed as her family gets drawn deeper into danger.

No cast details have yet been revealed. Behind the scenes, the series is being written by Danny Brocklenurst, who wrote the Netflix adaptation of Fool Me Once. The story will be based on Coben’s 2019 book Run Away. Coben will be joint executive producer alongside Brocklehurst,  Nicola Shindler, and Richard Fee.

I Will Find You

News broke in November 2024 that Coben’s 2023 novel I Will Find You was in plan to become an eight-episode limited series. The adaptation will be by Robert Hull of Quantum Leap, God Friended Me, and Alcatraz fame. Also revealed was that this series will be the first of the Coben shows to be set in the US.

The storyline here is of a father imprisoned for the murder of his son. An immediate and intriguing twist to the plot is when the father finds out that his son may be alive. It sounds odd, but you know Coben will have made it very plausible. This may take time to get to our screens, but it already sounds like a show we’ll be keen to see.
