After the longest wait in between seasons yet, we're heading back to the coziest corner of television with the premiere of Virgin River season 7 on Netflix. The fan-favorite romantic drama last dropped its previous season back in December 2024, which was well over one year ago. It's only natural if all the details of what happened in season 6 are a little fuzzy and you need some refreshers!
Virgin River season 7 premieres on March 12 and reunites us with Mel, Jack, and all their friends, family, and found family. When we last left what's surely one of the most dramatic fictional towns in the world, Mel and Jack were celebrating their wedding, which was a long time coming, and getting to know her birth father, Everett. But there were plenty more wild twists that lead into season 7.
What's next for Mel and Jack now that they're married and looking to start a family? Will Brie finally make a decision between Mike and Brady? Is Doc doomed when it comes to his medical future? In case you forgot the ins and outs of any of those storylines and can't manage a quick rewatch, we're sharing the five things that you can't forget before watching Virgin River season 7.

Mel and Jack might adopt Marley's baby
Lizzie and Denny aren't the only ones preparing to become parents this season! Mel and Jack are looking like the likely adoptive parents of Marley's baby. In the closing moments of season 6, Mel's pregnant former patient approaches her with the news that the parents that had been lined up to adopt her baby changed their mind. She now wants Mel and Jack to take their place.
We don't get a concrete answer on what Mel and Jack have decided when it comes to Marley's baby, but considering the winding road they had previously take to parenthood, the newlyweds don't seem likely to turn Marley down. However, in the season 7 trailer, it seems to be Marley who waffles back and forth between going through with the adoption. Fingers crossed for Mel and Jack!
Doc's in hot water with the medical board
Just when Doc thought most of his problems were behind him, his career ended up on the chopping block at the end of season 6. Doc resolved his eyesight issues in the beginning of the season, but the season 6 finale found him getting his medical license suspended just as the nearby hospital looks to expand into Virgin River and threaten the future of his beloved family practice.
Not to mention, in trying to help fix the situation with Doc's medical license, Hope only managed to make it worse. Obviously, she was attempting to save the day, and it was inevitable anyway, so we can't fault her for giving it her best. But going into season 7, we should expect to find Doc up against an impossible fight with the board to save his clinic and reinstate his medical license.
Mike proposed to Brie... and knows she slept with Brady
Now that Mel and Jack are married, we have to turn our attention to the messiest romantic situation on the show — and that's even including Preacher and Kaia, who have a whole murder mystery situation to untangle. (Don't forget that either!) But it's honestly nothing compared to Mike knowing that Brie cheated on him with Brady and still proposing marriage to her.
He was so serious about proposing to Brie that she didn't even buy a real ring yet, which might seem like he's not serious, but he is! Needlessly to say, we'll soon find out if he's proposing out of jealousy or if he really wants to marry Brie. But does she want to marry Mike? That's the big question Mike asked at the end of season 6 that we desperately need the answer to!

Lark stole all of Brady's money
Speaking of Brady, he's got bigger fish to fry than his possible romantic future with Brie and whether she will accept Mike's proposal. In season 6, his relationship with Lark started to get complicated after he learned that she had been scheming with Jimmy, the real father of her young daughter. He forgave her for intending to steal his insurance check, but she did it anyway.
When she hears Brady confessing to Brie about his feelings for her, Lark feels hurt and follows through with her initial plan. The end of season 6 finds Lark leaving town after stealing Brady's money. His streak of bad luck continues! Looking ahead to what's coming up for him, there's no doubt he will be trying to track Lark down and get back what's his.
Charmaine's caught up in mess once again
When Charmaine finally gave birth to her twins after a multi-season pregnancy, Virgin River fans rejoiced. It's no secret that she's not the most beloved character on the show, but she remains a key player in the small town, especially after one of the most shocking season 6 cliffhangers. When Charmaine's a no-show for the wedding, Jack pays her house a visit and finds a surprise.
Entering her home, Jack finds the house looking like a tornado blew threw it as he walks toward the music playing in the twins' nursery. He peeks his head through the door, and while we don't know what he sees, we know that he's shocked from the look on his face. Did Calvin hurt Charmaine and kidnap their twins? That's just one of the many questions that will soon be answered!
Virgin River season 7 premieres Thursday, March 12 on Netflix.
