It's an exciting time to be a fan of The Walking Dead, and not just because a new season of The Walking Dead: Dead City recently premiered. There doesn't seem to be a bad time to be a fan of the long-running AMC zombie franchise, but right now, especially celebratory news has arrived to quell any concerns fans might have had about the show leaving Netflix.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Netflix could possibly lose all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead by the end of the year or in 2027. Despite the show's tenure on the streaming service and prove success over the years, AMC was exploring other options as the network looked to regain control of the series' distribution. However, the explorations have ended with the show staying put.

AMC renews The Walking Dead streaming deal with Netflix

On July 30, AMC announced the thrilling news that the company and Netflix have renewed The Walking Dead's streaming deal for another five years, through at least 2032. Netflix cut AMC Global Media a sizable $500 million check in order to keep the series in its ranks, but the streamer also forked over that cash to gain all of the franchise's spinoff series.

That's right! On top of all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead remaining on Netflix for the next half decade, the streaming service will also either add or re-add each of the past and present spinoffs: Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of The Walking Dead.

Some of The Walking Dead spinoffs have been available to stream on Netflix in the United States in the past but have since been removed due to limited licensing windows. Apart from Daryl Dixon and Dead City, many of the show's off shoots have been exclusive to AMC+, making their imminent return to Netflix a perfect opportunity for fans to revisit the other entries in the saga.

The Walking Dead spinoffs are coming to Netflix globally

The Walking Dead also will no longer be exclusive to Netflix anymore, as the series will find its way to AMC+ in 2027. Additionally, the complete franchise isn't just coming to Netflix in the United States. Those who love the franchise across the pond also have something to celebrate as the the series and spinoffs will be coming to Netflix in various international regions.

The United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and more international territories will have the flagship series expanding, and the spinoffs will begin streaming on Netflix globally in 2027. While you might have the urge to mark your calendars as soon as possible, exact streaming release dates for the series in not only the US but global regions hasn't been revealed just yet.

As Kristin Dolan, the CEO of AMC Global Media, said about the renewed and expanded streaming deal, "Netflix has been an important partner in making The Walking Dead one of the most successful franchises in the history of entertainment. This agreement is a fantastic result for our companies, for the fans and for this timeless IP."

The Walking Dead might have come with a hefty price tag for Netflix, but the series has truly been one of the most beloved television properties for 16 years and counting. The future continues to be bright for the series, not just because of its spinoffs but with its presence on streaming. The Walking Dead isn't dying anytime soon if AMC and Netflix have anything to say about it!
