When a new show comes out, you just never know if it's going to be a massive hit, a sleeper favorite, or something that quietly slips under the radar. For The Hunting Wives, it turned out to be one of the most popular shows released this summer!

Originally set to release on Starz, the hit drama series made a major switch to Netflix in June 2025 after the streaming giant acquired the U.S. distribution rights from Lionsgate Television, which had regained them from Starz. Due to the quick switch-up, there was no traditional marketing campaign or anything like that. So, the show had no built-up hype or extensive promotional push to draw in viewers.

In other words, it could have easily gone unnoticed and been lost in the shuffle of new releases on Netflix. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. When The Hunting Wives season 1 was released on Netflix in July 2025, tons of people tuned in to see what it was all about. Due to all of its success, the streaming giant made the big renewal announcement in September. The Hunting Wives season 2 is officially happening at Netflix!

The cameras are set to start rolling on the highly anticipated second season on Nov. 9. Hunting Wives star Malin Akerman confirmed this in a recent interview with Us Weekly. So, that's good news. Now, we've just learned that another one of the show’s stars has an actress in mind that they'd love to see join the series.

Brittany Snow wants Aubrey Plaza to join The Hunting Wives

We're not joking around! Brittany Snow, who plays Sophie in the addictive drama series, revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she, along with the rest of the show's team, has their sights set on bringing fan-favorite actress Aubrey Plaza into the world of The Hunting Wives. In fact, she stated that they had hoped to get her on the show for quite some time. This all came after Plaza appeared in a recent Saturday Night Live parody of the show, which left Snow both shocked and thrilled.

“We always had a pie-in-the-sky idea that maybe Aubrey Plaza would be a part of the show, so seeing her in the skit was very strange. So, we’re hoping one day.”

The parody starred Amy Poehler as Akerman's Margo character, while Chloe Fineman portrayed Snow's Sophie character. Plaza portrayed a new girl who moves to the Republican town from California. It's a pretty funny sketch. We shared it below just in case you haven't checked it out already.

Now that it's been put out there that The Hunting Wives team wants Plaza on the show, could we be seeing her drop into the scandalous world of the series in season 2? We hope so! With the second season gearing up to film, it's possible that she could be added to the cast.

But it all depends on scheduling and whether Plaza herself is even on board. She's a pretty busy woman, but we're hoping she and the show's creative team can figure something out and make it work. Plaza would fit right on in with the other talented ladies!
