The Great British Baking Show collection 13 honors Dan Blackman

Another season of The Great British Baking Show has come to a close and a new winner has been crowned. The finale saw Aaron, Jasmine and Tom bake off in one final round of competition showing off their skills, and the trio did not make it an easy decision for judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

After the winner was crowned, the finale concluded with the show’s usual catch-up montage, giving fans a glimpse into what the bakers have been up to since the show finished filming. This year’s montage ended on a bit of an unexpected bittersweet note, though, with the season ending with a tribute to the late Dan Blackman.

"In Loving Memory of Dan Blackman 1974 to 2025,” read the dedication card that closed out the finale of The Great British Baking Show collection 13. The dedication was designed to honor a late member of the British Baking Show family, who sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 51.

Dan Blackman was not a former baker on the show, but rather a member of the behind-the-scenes team who helped make the show we all know and love. An editor with 25 years in the industry, Blackman worked on The Great British Baking Show from 2018 to 2023, working on collection 6, 7, 8, and 11. As an editor, Blackman was part of the team that makes the show into what we love, taking the endless hours of footage filmed during the shoot and turning them into the episodes that make it to air.

“Dan was such a lovely guy, he shall be dearly remembered,” wrote a loved one of Blackman remembering him in September following a tribute organized by the RWA Art Gallery. The sentiment was shared by many who had the honor of working with Blackman over the year across his many projects.

In addition to his work on The Great British Baking Show, Blackman was also involved as an editor on several notable titles including The Great Pottery Throw Down, Nadiya’s Everyday Baking, Changing Rooms, Springwatch, Autumnwatch, and Planet Earth: The Future.
