The Gentlemen season 2 ends with a violent twist that leads to a darker season 3

The Gentlemen has finally returned to Netflix after well over two years since the crime comedy series from Guy Ritchie first made its debut. Theo James and Kaya Scodelario are back as our favorite partners in crime (literally), though the show's follow-up season throws more twists their way than ever before. Eddie and Susie start season 2 as a united front, but do they end up that way?

It's a question that viewers will be wondering about halfway into the season, when tensions reach an all-time high and Eddie finds himself on Bobby Glass' bad side. Eddie and Susie's partnership hits a rough patch, forcing them into opposite directions and forging new paths. Susie embarks on a new drug business endeavor while Eddie teams up with the Italians... and gets married.

Before The Gentlemen season 2 finale, Eddie's marriage to Bella ends in flames, but not in the figurative sense. On the way to their honeymoon, the seaplane piloted by Bella explodes, killing Eddie's wife instantly. He realizes someone was out to kill him, but who hired the hit? Below, we're diving into who killed Bella, who wanted Eddie dead, and what's next for him and Susie!

Do Eddie and Susie end up together in The Gentlemen season 2?

There's no doubt that there's a particular faction of The Gentlemen audience hoping that Eddie and Susie would finally get together romantically in season 2. Well, not to be the bearer of bad news, but they still haven't crossed the line into romance by the end of the second season, though there is definitely tension, references to their relationship, and teases that they're hiding deeper feelings.

However, Eddie and Susie do come back together as work spouses by the end of the season. When Bobby divided them up after they attempted to go against him on the vote to decriminalize marijuana, Eddie and Susie were no longer in contact. Eddie's brutal attack from Bobby's men left him sulking until he married Bella, and Susie reunited with Joe to jump into the world of cocaine.

In the wake of Susie learning that Joe double crossed her and Bella's death, she and Eddie come back together and she helps him figure out who was behind the attacks on his wife, him, and his family. Now that Bobby has bought Eddie's debt and he and Susie have buried the hatchet, it's safe to say that Eddie and Susie are a duo once again. Maybe their relationhip will grow in season 3.

Who killed Bella and hunted down Eddie?

Apart from the status of Eddie and Susie's relationship, the biggest question to come out of The Gentlemen season 2 obviously revolves around the truth about Bella's death. Who orchestrated the plane explosion and called the hit on Eddie? Drum roll please... Eddie's brother Freddy and John "The Gospel" Dixon. The pair teamed up in order to seek revenge on Eddie.

Since Freddy had been away at a spiritual retreat all season recovering from the issues he was facing, Dixon was able to manipulate him. Dixon wanted to get back at Eddie for his brother's death, and Freddy still maintained a grudge against his brother for inheriting their father's title and business. Being so, Freddy and Dixon blew up the plane and sent all those men to find and kill Eddie.

When Eddie discovers that his brother betrayed him, he forces Freddy to cut off Dixon's head with a chainsaw. The Gentlemen season 2 ends with a bloodied Freddy holding Dixon's head by the hair and screaming. Eddie has seemingly now fully hardened and gone to the dark side, which is a violent conclusion that leads into what will be a dark third season.

There's no doubt that Eddie will continue to control Freddy and use this situation to manipulate him, just as he had been manipulated by Dixon. Will they pull Freddy into the scheme with Bobby, or will he continue to be a loose cannon that can't trust? What will Susie make of Eddie's darkest move yet? These are the big questions we now have as the wait for season 3 begins!
